Center Pop Up Card

Center Pop Up Card

For our stamp camp this month, we used some of my favorite sets in the Stampin Up spring catalog – Blessings of Home and Honeybee Home, I love them both! We combined images and sayings and made this fun card.

I watched a tutorial for a centre pop up step card, which was originally for a 5×7 size card and I made adjustments so mine is 4.25 x 5.5″. (Iced Images on YouTube) I love how the front section pops up when it’s out of the envelope but it folds flat to send it in the mail. I used a strip of acetate in the window to attach the flower and bee and they appear to be floating.

Here are my measurements:

Here’s another version, using retired designer series paper (I was practicing, so used old paper) and the Flowering Tulips bundle, also from the spring catalog.

Which one do you prefer, blue or red? I’ll share more cards from this class soon. 😃

Have a great day! -Debbi

New Spring Catalog and Sale-A-Bration time!

New Spring Catalog and Sale-A-Bration time!

Happy New Year! Hooray, it’s time to check out the new January thru June mini catalog!

For years I’ve been calling it the Spring Catalog and for goodness sake I just can’t switch so I’m going to keep calling it that. This new catalog is filled with fresh new ideas for spring and beyond, I know it will inspire you to make something beautiful! Sale-A-Bration is definitely a time for celebration, as we get to choose a free item for every $50 we spend with Stampin Up. This special promotion is from January 4th through February! There are some fun things to choose from this time, including an adorable otter stamp set, along with 3 (actually it’s 4) options for FREE designer series paper! You can always use more paper, right? Yes, the answer is yes!

Here are a few cards we made in class recently that use the Awesome Otters stamp set and the Sunshine & Rainbows designer series paper (this paper coordinates with a stamp set in the Spring catalog).

That little otter is so stinkin’ cute, and did you notice there are new postage stamps that practically match?! I stocked up. 🙂

You can find links for the catalogs in the right sidebar, so grab your favorite beverage and enjoy browsing through the new Spring catalog and Sale-A-Bration flyer. If you prefer a paper catalog and you don’t already have a Stampin Up demonstrator let me know so I can put one in the mail for you. It’s snowy and blowy here in Wisconsin so I’m going to watch it snow, enjoy my coffee and my catalogs. Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Last week was my mom’s birthday. She loves butterflies and the color purple so I couldn’t wait to try out the new Butterfly Bouquet Collection! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming in March. This collection features a stamp set with matching dies, coordinating designer paper and a specialty paper that looks and feels like wood veneer.

Mom loved her card! I’m sure I’ll be making lots more cards with this beautiful set.

Have a great day! -Debbi

Tall Cow or Small Cow – Menagerie Mix-Up

Tall Cow or Small Cow – Menagerie Mix-Up

Stampin’ Up has a fun new stamp set called Menagerie Mix-Up that has me seeing all kinds of fun animals! (it’s a bunch of body parts waiting to be assembled) Being from Wisconsin, I knew I had to try to make a cute cow card, with an equally cute verse.

I couldn’t figure out how to spell moo-ey Christmas, so I almost gave up. Later, while driving past a farm in our neighborhood, I admired the flowers planted around their “farm sign” and it hit me…Family Dairy…DAIRY Christmas! Bahahaha, I cracked myself up the rest of the way home. Then I came up with happy MOO year to finish it off, I thought I was so clever. I cut apart the photopolymer stamps in the stamp set called Merry Christmas To All (now retired, boo hoo) to form the word DAIRY, and the die cut “moo” came from the word “groom” in the Well Written die set. I snipped and switched the letters to make the word “moo”. That works! Here’s how that card turned out:

My intention was to use this card in a swap, so I made a bunch of them up and then afterwards, realized the word set was retired. Oh my gosh, now what!? Back to the drawing board to start over. While I was stacking up the “cow parts”, I saw something different…a shorter, cuter cow!

Awww, now that’s a cute little cow if I do say so moo-self. LOL, there I go again! This time a new layout and I used what I had with me since I was away from home, a bunch of different stamp sets came together to form this card.

I think I like the small cow better than the tall cow, but they are both adora-bull!! LOL, someone stop me with the cow puns already!

If you haven’t given Menagerie Mix-Up a try yet, you should. There’s all sorts of critters just waiting to be stamped!

So which do you like better, tall cow or small cow? And how do you spell moo-ey Christmas anyway? Moo-ey doesn’t look right. Mooey, moo-ie, moo-y, meowy…okay now I’m getting off track here. Hey there might be a cute kitty in this set too!

Stamp, smile, repeat! That’s what I’ll be doing…looking for more fun animals.

February Stamp Camp Projects – with tutorial!

February Stamp Camp Projects – with tutorial!

I can’t believe it’s nearly March already, where has the time gone?  I was very sick for practically the full month of January but finally feeling more myself and I have some February Stamp Camp projects to share.  We used the So Sentimental stamp set and the Stitched So Sweetly dies for our projects this month and I could have created  lots more fun things with these dies, they are somewhat addicting once you start combining layers!

First up is a shaker card, see how the label shape in the center fits perfectly inside the scalloped rectangle?  It was just the right size to add a window sheet, some adhesive strips, some sequins and back it with another window sheet to “sandwich in” the sequins…that’s my favorite way to put together shaker cards.  It’s so fun to shake around, I can’t stop myself!  And that little koala is so stinkin’ cute, I want to give him a hug.

Next we made a treat box with a magnetic flap that kind of matches the shaker card.  Again, I love how the dies and punches layer together to make it look “extra” nice.  I designed this project so I could get the most out of a sheet of Designer Series Paper, and it works great; uses a full sheet of 8.5 x 11 cardstock and the DSP is 4 x 4 and 1-3/4 x 4.  I love it when I can get a lot of out a sheet without much waste.  This cute little treat box holds more that you think, it’s quite roomy inside and can easily hold a Swiss Cake Roll, a bag of Skittles, and a package of Lick and Dip candies, along with a 3×3 card…I know this because I helped my godchild Amelia make a bunch of Valentine themed treat boxes for her classmates.  She said the kids approved, yay!

It’s been a rough year for illnesses around here, so Get Well cards don’t last long.  Here’s a quick and easy one, and another chance to use the coordinating dies.  I’m guilty of making mostly “ladylike” cards but I think this would work just fine for a man or woman.

Stampin Up offers so many great paper choices, and with the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper we used on the criss cross cards below, we get every penny’s worth!  This particular paper pack has 4 each of 6 designs, and the project uses a half sheet of paper, that means you could 24 of these gorgeous cards  out of one single package.  Score!  Speaking of scoring, the measurements for this card are extra easy:  6 x 12 DSP, score at 4 and 8 on the long side, then score at 1/2″ along the bottom edge to create a tab in the center (cut off the bottom left/right tabs).  We folded the front flaps inward or outward to create different looks.  The card inside the pocket is just the right spot to write a note or stamp a sentiment.

Last but not least is a card attached to a little gift box…perfect to hold a gift card, jewelry, or chocolate!  The drawer slides into the box, and the card is attached to the top.  Surprisingly easy to put together and it’s fun to give.  We used the Lily Impressions DSP for this one, free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration till the end of March…the colors are so rich and the texture makes you want to touch the paper to see if it’s really paper or is it a painted canvas?!

I made a very quick and casual video tutorial on how to make the treat box with magnetic flap, I’ll include it in this post but no laughing at me…I’m new at videos! 😉

Treat Box with Magnetic Flap

Have a great day, see you next time!
